That's the only advice you need to get started; pick a good server whose guidelines you like, and don't pick the main ones unless you're basic

I use both, and I prefer the content delivery tools that come with patreon. I keep kofi around for one-off donations/tip jar and people who just don't like patreon.

There's also comradery, which I have but nobody ever supports through.
