0 0 La fumettista italiana Elena Mistrello, invitata in Francia al festival BD Colomiers, è stata respinta alla frontiera francese e rimpatriata in Italia. L’episodio è avvenuto venerdì 21 novembre, all’aeroporto di Tolosa, dove la polizia le ha impedito l’ingresso dichiarandola «una grave minaccia per l’ordine pubblico francese». Mistrello era attesa al festival per due giornate di incontri con il pubblico, organizzate dall’editore francese PresqueLune in occasione dell’uscita dell’edizione francese di _Sindrome Italia_ , graphic novel realizzato con la scrittrice Tiziana Francesca Vaccaro e pubblicato da Beccogiallo nel 2021. Il libro, premiato a Comicon Napoli 2022 come Miglior opera prima, racconta le vicende delle donne migranti dell’Est Europa impiegate in Italia come assistenti familiari. In una nota condivisa sui propri canali social, l’autrice racconta che, appena scesa dal volo proveniente da Francoforte, ha trovato “tre agenti della Police nationale ad aspettarmi. Mi fermano e mi comunicano che io non posso mettere piede in Francia, che loro non sanno esattamente perché, ma risulta una segnalazione del Ministero degli Interni relativa alla pericolosità della mia persona”. **ICCL has filed a complaint to the European Ombudsman against the European Commission for its use of generative AI in public documents, which likely violates its own guidelines and its obligation under the treaties.** A recent response from the European Commission to our access to documents request not only revealed that the President of the Commission was repeating the words of tech CEOs, but it also accidentally divulged the Commission’s use of generative AI in public documents. The Commission's response included four links, at least one of them was generated using OpenAI's ChatGPT. This link includes "_utm_source=chatgpt.com_ " which reveals the website that generated the link (_see below_). It is unclear if other parts of the response replicate generative AI outputs and if it is common practice at the Commission to use generative AI outputs in public documents. These generative AI systems give sometimes correct and sometimes wrong information. The errors are not bugs, but by design. They "predict" next words based on probabilities. Facts are not their forte. EU institutions have a duty to provide accurate information. By relying on bullshit generators, they might violate their obligation under the treaties to provide citizens with the right to good administration. In addition, it is likely that this use of generative AI is a violation of the Commission's own guidelines for staff on the use of online generative artificial intelligence tools, which says "Staff shall never directly replicate the output of a generative AI model in public documents." **ICCL Enforce Senior Fellow, Dr Kris Shrishak, said today:** _“Public bodies like the European Commission should always be transparent and disclose if a generative AI tool is used in any public document, even if the output from such tools has been assessed by their staff.
