Who or what do you think will do something to try to stop this? Trump and the administration are not going to stop in response to polls, judicial ruling, stern warnings from Congress, etc. I’m afraid it’s going to take some street-level violence to change things, and that’s not going to be pretty.

But there is no bus. I’m all for capturing all possible evidence because it’s better than doing nothing. But I simply do not see any accountability coming. Maybe after the midterms the House holds hearings but that is not accountability.

Is there actually anything of consequence that Congress of the courts can and will do? Expressions of concern, shows of consternation, statements about “wholly inadequate” response… no one cares and not one bit of behavior will change.

Sorry, sometimes, violence is the answer. That’s just how it is.

In Trump’s 1st administration, lots of people said that if push came to shove, the military was honorable and would resist Trump’s worst impulses. Push seems to have come to shove and everything from being deployed in US cities to commiting war crimes seems just fine for the military.

There is no follow through. That statement is the final scene in today’s episode of The Trump Show - triumphant music, closing credits, then nothing. No mention of it In tomorrow’s episode. Implementation is for losers. Only cool-sounding performative stuff gets on the air for The Trump Show.

It might stop when Bovino starts worrying every time he starts his car.

For some reason, books like Say Nothing, Armed Struggle, and The Secret Army are finding their way onto my reading list.

Saying that rhetoric is going to cause more incidents is an admission that ICE agents don’t have the emotional maturity to handle the job.

No one in his right mind believes that the Christian right is actually Christian.

Let senators try out this approach first. When they, and their families, have stories about how much they love it I’m sure that will convince the rest of the country that it’s a great approach.

Yes, but I would also go after him for destroying the house just as vigorously. And in a world where I can’t seem to get anyone to care about the murder & theft, maybe addressing the house is all I get. It’s an old saw, but Al Capone was convicted of tax evasion.

If I rented my house and the tenant was a liar, a cheat, a murderer, a con man with no regard for laws or customs and he tore down part of my house and built another structure, I would not say “let’s keep the house in perspective”. I’d evict him.

When do we stop saying “he acts like a gangster”? He is a gangster. Not a villian in a movie - he’s a gangster in real life. Threatening other countries, attacking his enemies, protecting his friends, helping himself to the money. He’s not pretending to be anything else. He’s saying it plainly.

We’ve taken the trash of society and given them bonuses to carry guns and bully people they don’t like while wearing a cosplay uniform.

But it will stand. Who will stand up to it? Congress? The judiciary? Not a chance. And when individual citizens have had enough and ICE agents get shot, Trump will have what he wants to send in the military. I don’t see how this de-escalates and ends well.

She’s not really his Roy Cohn. Roy Cohn taught Trump how to be a criminal. Bondi isn’t teaching Trump anything. He’s teaching her how to support a mob boss.

Kimmel was canceled because Trump has disliked him for years and took an opportunity to go after him. People are being fired for being on Trump’s enemy list either as individuals or as part of a group he doesn’t like.

Honestly, I’m tired off thinking “well, now Congressional leaders will surely say something”. At this point, I doubt that they would say anything meaningful even if Trump’s next move is to ban the Democratic Party altogether and only allow Republicans to hold Congressional seats.

Yes! So there is some hope. Actually Phil Scott is a reminder that the moderate Republican is not totally extinct.

There is no Republican governor who is going to refuse to deploy their National Guard when Trump calls for it. To think they might is pure silliness.

Given the crass stupidity of these letters, the complimentary closing is a cherry on top. It’s a cheap, chintzy copy of a colonial-era closing. “With best wishes, I am, sincerely DJT” copies the formality but skips the content. Like gold leaf on a cardboard box. Which would be classic Trump, too.
