Media is now calling it assassination, after Walz comments

Walz said assassinated.

Does anyone know when the term assassination attempt is used? A guy on a golf course near trump was called that. These are being called targeted shootings. Someone tried to burn the Penn. Governor's house down while he was at home, that's called an arson attack. Just seems weird.
