IDK if they're literally religious (the Catholic Church has a surprisingly reasonable take on I/P) but his convictions are fanatical enough that that's just splitting hairs.

I find it slightly interesting in the "shocking, not surprising" way.

I've been saying this: foreign aid should work the same way. If I'm elected president, I will loudly pass a bill to put a cap of 7% of the budget on foreign aid (i.e. increase the amount spent by a factor of ~7)

King of the UK designing an entire small town was a pretty good bit

Not joking, I was seriously considering whether I should just try to become a Canadian citizen and become fully Québécois and abandon life in the Anglophone world but it started to feel like a "better the devil you know" type situation.

That's how I felt in late 2016 when Trump got elected

I think we should treat noncitizen and citizen criminals equally. Some US citizens are extradited to foreign countries, but IDK the exact numbers: perhaps not enough?

Oh sure, I thought you meant flying into Amsterdam overall, not specifically because of walkability. Germans are one of the largest groups of visitors, and a big appeal for them is the combination of a cultured and nonthreateningly debauched atmosphere, not the urbanism.

Republican voters seem to largely appreciate this kind of vicious mockery, so it seems like a place where we should sometimes hold our noses (no pun intended) and pander to them with put downs about their physically repulsive leadership
February 1, 2026 at 11:14 PM
Tbh seems plausible considering that ~10 million tourists visit Amsterdam per year and >50 million people use Schiphol airport per year (obvs mostly not tourists)

Tbc I do want to make a pro Canada and pro Quebec point on that one

The administrative violation of unlawful entry is like, not ideal, but it's a negligible "problem" to me compared to the shit that native born citizens are up to (eg spreading measles)
February 1, 2026 at 10:44 PM
The only reason to deport someone IMO is if they are wanted for a serious crime in another country (i.e., already in US custody) or have otherwise done something indicating extreme moral turpitude: otherwise, seems like a waste of time and resources to go after people who aren't causing any trouble.

For political reasons that are only mostly racist these days, American Samoans have a separate lower status of citizenship that differs from that of Americans in all other states and territories.
February 1, 2026 at 10:18 PM
American Samoa traditionally has the highest per capita enlistment rate in the military among any states/territories of the USA. I wouldn't call the US (at least historically) fascist per se but minoritized and non-citizen/second class citizen troops have always had some presence.

Wait until he finds out how much of Quebec identity is about not wanting to be Canadian
February 1, 2026 at 9:57 PM
My question is, is this US TV or all TV? Are the British making COVID shows?
February 1, 2026 at 5:52 PM
Even the racist separatists still identify multiculturalism as an identity and an ideology! They just reject it.
February 1, 2026 at 5:35 PM
Yeah it's kind of literally the opposite of this
