Last month, Chad’s Ministry of Health, with support from the Reaching the Last Mile Fund, led a major effort to stop the transmission of river blindness and lymphatic filariasis. Implemented with The Carter Center’s help, the campaign treated nearly 3 million people across 29 districts. #BeatNTDs

The countries eligible for Mectizan are Angola, Bénin, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad ,Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Sénégal, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Venezuela, and Yemen. The countries where elimination of transmission of river blindness has been achieved are Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, and Niger.
