My medieval Italian novel: Anima Indomita.
The first ideas arrived in 2020. I wondered what daily life was like during the Black Death, I read books about medieval medicine and couldn't stop daydreaming. From short stories written for fun, the story evolved into a 40000+ words novel.

I "met" two women from 1347 who told me their stories. To date, five years later, I've given them voice in over 40,000 words, from November 2024 to the final hours of 2025. It's not perfect, and there's still a lot to work on. ⚕️🪡🐀⚔️

I'm almost done with the first draft.

I reread chapter one.

"What the heck is this rubbish?"

I cry.

I would have had to do it all over again with the second draft anyway, but what the heck.

A character from my novel has a very popular name.
Person I barely know: "Did you think of me? 🥹"

I finally feel confident enough to say that I'm writing a novel. The prologue (3 pages) is finished, it just needs some polishing but I don't feel ready for a second read yet. It's in Italian but I'll work on an English translation myself.
