The problem w/ Cuban is that if he was *genuinely* interested in a healthcare discussion, there are 100 experts who could tell him why every other modern country has a different system than ours. He had the access. Instead he wants to troll libtards.

It wasn’t some academic ruling. The entire US gov apparatus began assuming the consensus legal view *immediately.* it’s like arguing prohibition was never actually lifted even if all government agencies said it immediately in all paperwork for the next 100 years

Not *only* that but every person in the US at that time (gov officials, administrators, politicians, etc.) who interpreted it any other way was wrong. His argument is the people *at the time* got it wrong too! They gave non-slave born people citizenship in gov docs!

There were children of immigrants in the US who were not freed slaves at that time. After that amendment, gov documents refer to these people as American Citizens. Future law cases call them citizens. Even racists in that time plotted to pass a new amendment b/c they admitted that’s what it did!

It’s stupid. It’s like saying we can’t know whether Bill was a King unless we find a document declaring Bill as King. Everyone called him King Bill, documents call his land Kingdom of Bill, documents call his people Subjects of King Bill, etc.

No, you don’t understand, the crafters were supposed to assume 150 years from their time, bad-faith fascists would try to ignore the crystal clear purpose of the amendment. They should have prepared for that by stating exactly which future immigrants this applied to. Otherwise, we can’t know!

And I think all of these 3 have been proven to have abused the student visa privilege they used to come to the US (you can’t work in the US under a student visa but they all did.)

It’s also funny considering a government that has the power to upend the most basic and well-defined immigration right in US history could, trivially, decide that living immigrants from South Africa (Musk, Thiel, Sacks, etc.) can be forcefully remigrated back.

I think there was a time this was true but global right-wing groups co-opted this a long time ago. It’s a Russian formula but has been domesticated for a while.
