Saw this heron while on a walk in Del Mar’s Coast to Crest Trail. #birds

Came home to this on our back fence. It’s a Harlan’s hawk, a subspecies of a red-tailed hawk. I’ve never seen one here in San Diego. It had to be 16 to 24 inches tall. HUGE! #birds
