It's pretty irrelevant for an article about violent crime, but it is nice to see the scams economy recognized as crime instead of 'innovation' for once.

They have completely fetishized the commodity. The finished product is the only consideration, not the care and craft that went into making it. Probably plays a role in why they generally aren't willing to pay their employees better.

Blind? Electrical tape over the camera. Deaf? Leave your pocket lint in your phone's mic. Dementia? It's an LLM, trying (to varying degrees of success) to cobble together decontextualized data into something that hopefully makes sense is its whole thing.
