The northward spring migration of the Rufous Hmmingbird follows the bloom of the Flowering Red currant along the Pacific coast. This fiesty 3gms bird travels more than 3000 km from Mexico to the Pacific NW in May and then another 3000 km back to Mexico in late summer along the Rockies.
