We are Richard, an ambling beardsman, and Spaniel L. Jackson, the dog. Proudly Neurodivergent.
Good morning Blueskies! Grey and mizzly in the Vale today, meant to be fairing up later; wfh today so hopefully faff will be reduced, and aiming to get some time back this afternoon before slightly extended weekend, with plenty of ambling. Let’s get this done, people, let’s Friday!
December 12, 2025 at 8:39 AM
Good evening Blueskies! Busy day. Faffing wasn’t the half of it. WFH tomorrow, and then a long weekend. Before that, an evening amble in the dark, bit cooler tonight, we took in the river beneath interesting but disinterested skies.

Good morning Blueskies! Clear and dry and crimson in the vale today, a wonderful sky: is that a warning? No matter. Stuff, faff and almost certainly nonsense incoming; however, wherever and whatever you are doing yours, let’s Thursday!
December 11, 2025 at 9:11 AM
Good evening Blueskies! Busy day. All the usual faff with added socialising, for good measure. Our evening amble all the more welcome, then, and it stayed unseasonably dry and warm. Went down the cobbles tonight.

Good morning Blueskies! Grey and dry in the vale today, bit cooler but not cold, not by any means winter; troubling, as was a leaky wellington boot; many meetings today, and socialising, we’re agin it, but what can we do? We can but carry on; let’s Wednesday…

Took a couple of bad/trippy pictures, not entirely on purpose, so thought we would share. Call it art.
December 9, 2025 at 10:48 PM
Good evening Blueskies! Busy day. People. Meetings. Faff. All that. Let’s find calm and peace on an evening amble over rivers in spate, beneath clearing/interesting skies, see if that works better? Yes, that’s the stuff.
December 9, 2025 at 10:27 PM
Good morning Blueskies! Damp and then some in the Vale today, unseasonably warm and floods across the valley floor, the small waterfall a cataract today; the world is at once on fire and drowning to enrich those who already have more than anyone needs; fight the power and let’s Tuesday!
December 9, 2025 at 9:00 AM
Good evening Blueskies! Busy day. Ridonculous. Managed an evening amble. M’col, who seems to have been a little off colour of late, appears to be back to his old self, and we trotted around the river like a couple of swells.
December 8, 2025 at 10:10 PM
Good morning Blueskies! Dark and damp in the vale today, underfoot at least (the dampness that is, not the darkness); loads of faff and loads of meetings (faff, but with other people); so it goes: let’s Monday!
December 8, 2025 at 8:53 AM
Good evening Blueskies! Another soggy one. Damper than a herring’s hydro on our afternoon amble. We forebear. Got the outside lights up, watched some telly, generally relaxed. All good.
December 7, 2025 at 10:27 PM
Good morning Blueskies! Grey and mizzly in the Vale today: let’s hope the rain holds off long enough to get the outside lights up. Failed to get an amble pic this morning, so here’s one from yesterday before the clouds and rain came down
December 7, 2025 at 10:32 AM
Good evening Blueskies! Been ambling. Been raining, been leaving boots at home, been leaving snacks in the car, been getting perspective, mindfulness, exercise, all that. Needed in these busy, faffy days. Damp, though. Ambling actually through rain clouds as the rain fell.
December 6, 2025 at 9:44 PM
Good morning Blueskies! Grey and mizzly in the Vale today, but milder; looking damp for an amble on the tops later; whatever, however, whoever you do yours, let’s Saturday!
December 6, 2025 at 10:37 AM
Good evening Blueskies! Busy day to end a busy week. But that means it is the weekend. Took m’col to get a new coat, his current one being too small. His new one way too big. No matter. Ambles were had.
December 5, 2025 at 10:14 PM
Good morning Blueskies! Overcast and dark in the vale today, we set out beneath a moon veiled in cloud over soggy ground; faff incoming, but hopefully not too much, and wfh for the first time in weeks; however you do yours, let’s Friday!
December 5, 2025 at 8:32 AM
Good evening Blueskies! Busy day. Getting beyond ridiculous now. Never mind. Our evening amble took us through the tunnel beneath the viaduct, that carries the trains into Bury. Liked the way the torchlight bounced about
December 4, 2025 at 9:40 PM
Good morning Blueskies! Dark, dingy and damp in the vale today, not much lighter now than when we set out for our morning amble; these busy days, more important than ever to make time to be present in nature, eh? Let’s Thursday!
December 4, 2025 at 8:48 AM
Good evening Blueskies! Busy day. Just ridiculous. Meh. Late amble, in the dark, keeping us on an even keel. Much to be said for it.
December 3, 2025 at 10:27 PM
Good morning Blueskies! Grey, turning gold, in the Vale today; cloudy so not too cold but damp underfoot; faff already raining down, let’s crack on, let’s Wednesday!
December 3, 2025 at 9:10 AM
Good evening Blueskies! Busy day. Meh. Burning out, were it not for evening amble.
December 2, 2025 at 11:05 PM
Good morning Blueskies! Clear and (eventually) bright in the Vale today, colder than yesterday but will take that if we get a sunrise; faff by the bucketload imminent, but a moment of calm before we head in: let’s Tuesday!
December 2, 2025 at 8:37 AM
Good evening Blueskies! Busy day. Not getting any less busy, either. The opposite, if anything. Anyway, we managed an evening amble in the dark and the rain and the unseasonable mildness. December!
December 1, 2025 at 10:34 PM
Good morning Blueskies! Dark and damp December in the Vale today, though not too cold; more rain on the way, much faff incoming here; wishing all dry warm feet: let’s Monday!
December 1, 2025 at 9:04 AM
Good evening Blueskies! Well, that was the weekend. They never last long enough. Had a sunshine amble in the woods though, and you can’t beat that. We went to say hello to the bees, but they were sleeping.
