One large and cool looking leaf. It appears to be quite sad. Day 22

A very large, rusty colored maple leave lying flat on a sandy path.There are 2 small holes on either side of the center stem. The bottom edges of the leaf curl away from the stem in an inverted U shape, making it look like a sad face.

Day 21 #ArtAdventCalendar From my sketchbook, a circle #mandala inspired by YouTube artist VA Arts using
Micron Pigma pens and a ruler.
Four circular Mandalas surround a black center circle. Each of the Mandalas also has a black center. Each touches both the center and the mandala on either side, forming a square pattern of their own dark centers. The Mandalas opposite each other use the same patterns, so they echo across the center circle.

Beaded kumihimo bracelet, practice for a much bigger project after nearly a decade of not doing any braiding at all. Not perfect, but pleased with it after such a long hiatus.
A bracelet in a spiral pattern of orange and brown 8/0 beads with a simple slip clasp. The right end also has a small silver charm with the word "create" stamped on it.

In a sunny field surrounded by spiky green leaves, a single coreopsis flower and small closed bud are standing. The flower is bright yellow with many petals, toothed at the edge, and a tightly clustered center similar to a sunflower center but much smaller. The bud to its right glows as it faces the sun.

Surrounded by small, intersecting bare branches are two very shriveled spheres. The larger one in the foreground resembles a brain with reds and blacks scattered on the surface. The smaller apple behind it is more degraded and mostly black. Some small new buds are visible on the ends of a few branches.

A small section of a rather narrow tree trunk. The trunk is white on the right side which is in the sun, and more grey on the shady left side. Random diamond shapes, raised and a medium brown with a vertical rust colored line, are scattered across the trunk.

Day 6 of #ArtAdventCalendar is a tribute to a dear friend, Joe, whose memorial service is today. Not great art, but the story is in Alt text if you're curious.

Our friend, Joe, was fighting a battle against a brain tumor, and an insistent voice in my head told me to paint a mini version of the Chartres Cathedral labyrinth for him. The background is painted to resemble bricks in varying colors of browns, rusty reds, yellows, and buffy beiges. The simple labyrinth was inked on top of that. The 4 corners are based on a recurring theme in the stained glass windows in the Church-a red cross with a white intersection surrounded by 4 blue squares with diamonds inside each square. Unknown to me at the time, Joe was a labyrinth fan and actively looked for ones to walk in his traveling days. He now had one at hand, literally, for his use during his last year on earth. His memorial service is today. RIP Joe, a true giant among men.

Spiky brown seed heads in various stages of opening. Some are open at the top, revealing the dark seeds inside. One is just starting to open and is catching the sun's rays, making it appear a light beige. All look ferocious with their long spikes covering the entire outside.

Dark-eyed Junco for Day 4 #ArtAdventCalendar #Birds
A small bird perched on bare branches. The top 2/3 of the bird are grey, nearly all the same color with a slightly darker head. The underbelly is white, the beak is a soft pink-peach, and the eye is black. Despite such a nondescript description, Juncos are very cute and have such personality.

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 3. Shortly after inauguration day, I was devastated by the damage happening around us so I painted a very blue neuographic piece to reflect my mood. It left me dissatisfied, so I added marks in
white to to help balance it with some hope. #lineandwash #neurographicart
Various shades of blue and purple watercolor fill a paper inside of sqiggly black lines forming random shapes. The intersection are curved to soften any sharp corners. The same painting as on the left but many of the spaces have varying white pen marks which brighten the mood of the piece.

A lovely female Northern Cardinal catching the last rays of the winter sun. #ArtAdventCalendar #Birds
On a scrubby pine branch, a perched cardinal is facing left in 3/4 angle. The bird is a mix of reddish orange on her beak, around the eye, the top of her crest, outer wing feathers, and suble touches on her breast against a pale yellow olive body and back of her head. Her eye is dark as are the feathers around her beak and part of her wing.
