Definitely some flavor of fighter or rogue. I like to keep it simple to start with and get a feel for the system at the basic level.

Definitely prefer SP/MP systems. They're just more flexible and way easier for new players to grasp, as they likely already have some experience with the concept.

Gold and Silver are my favorites, X and Y are close. Least favorite probably Sun and Moon, but I don't hate them.
