There is this weird (to me) push back against people doing important work like this, and one of the arguments repeatedly used is that so called "data slueths/police/thugs/stasi" etc have so much power. It's such a comically false premise. The power to be constantly ignored!?

Sent an email to a journal Editor-in-Chief asking why my manuscript review was taking to long. Got back an invite to be an Associate Editor! (And a helpful update on my manuscript)

Today I introduced undergrads interning in my lab to Fast Car (Grammy 2024 version, though Tracy Chapman alone is better).

Tried to make my course assignments AI-proof, but constantly feeling skeptical that AI isn’t being used. Not sure how we are supposed to do this anymore.

Does anyone else spend a lot of time at conferences thinking about what the AV tech staff think about us and our presentation content? I’m sure they pay little attention, but I like to envision them judging us.
