It has happened to me twice in my 11 years of quilting. I have a large stash of backing with total yards marked on the salvage, instead of selecting 4.5 yds, I grabbed 4 yds.

And I have wasted time trying to add left over fabric to the back but needed more yardage to the length NOT the width! I wasn’t thinking. I have another backing in my stash and it will be perfect.
