As for the exciting #Rivian news today: I am very happy with my Gen 2 #R1S, and everything it can already do today. I’m very excited it will soon be able to do even more, and on more roads!
I’m also really excited that the coming R2 will have a lidar sensor for safer point to point autonomy. 👍

Lots to catch up on. We did it! We moved from the farm to the lake. Just my husband, myself, our dog and 5 (yes 5) cats. We could not say no to 3 adorable kittens that were rescued from feral life outside. ❤️
3 of our kids (+ a future son in law) are still on the farm, taking care of things there. 🥰

A+ to Rivian service. They proactively reached out to remedy a potential future problem with the 12v battery, and scheduled an appointment time for the following morning. Service took about an hour. The whole process from notification to completion took less than 24 hours. (SJ, CA) 🌟 #Rivian #R1S

Yaaaay! Permits came through to remove and then replace part of the driveway to do the underground electrical upgrades needed for the solar project. I hope this means the rest of the installation will go pretty quickly. 🤞🤞🤞

WIP: currently on the hook is my first attempt at a crochet sock. Using Patons Toe Up pattern, Premier Fruits acrylic sock yarn (in plum), and a 3mm hook.
I’ve knit socks before- crochet is definitely different! Might try learning Tunisian crochet for the next pair. 🧶🧦 #wip

We’re meeting with the solar installation company, the general contractor, and PG&E tomorrow to discuss our solar project. Very excited to get this further underway! We are under contract for a robust Enphase solar + home battery + smart EV charger system. ☀️🎉

The complimentary NACS adapter arrived from Rivian for my R1S. I’m glad to have it in case of emergency, but I sure hope to never need to use a supercharger ever again. Staying as far away from anything Musk related as possible.

Today I bought a distaff for spinning. My wheels (Ashford Traditional and Ashford Kiwi) no longer have a distaff accessory in production, and I’ve had no luck sourcing a used one. So I bought a Kromski distaff and hope to make what I need to attach it to my wheels. Or make it freestanding. 🧶

One of my kids suggested we crochet temperature blankets this year. I thought it would be fun to increase the number of stitches in a row as the days get longer, and decrease as the year winds down. So we are crocheting corner to corner from winter solstice 2024 through winter solstice 2025. 🧶

I’m trying to focus on the positive. My spouse and I are renovating a much smaller home (to retire in) to be as efficient as possible. Updated windows and sliding doors made a HUGE difference already. Currently, we are replacing all the old siding and insulation. New roof ready for solar panels. ☀️
