I like to spend time with art and write about it. Often distracted by politics and the evilness of oligarchs.

The Benaki Museum in Athens is not on the tourist hit parade but is so worth a visit - 30-odd years ago when I was an au pair living in the city it was one of the standouts to me. The jewelry collection is stunning.

Going directly to watching "Flow" after the joint address to congress was a mistake. However, a frantic Google for "how does Flow end is the cat OK?" about midway through has restored my will to live.

Someday, there will be a museum devoted to Trump's attempted ruination of our democracy. And there will be a wall with the photos of every lawmaker who stood and applauded for him tonight, much like the wall of traitors in the Museum of Terror in Budapest. Their names will be reviled.

US taxpayer money was spent to send Richard Grenell to negotiate, on behalf of the US government, the return of the Tate brothers, who are openly, violently, misogynistic. Who advocate publicly and loudly for violence against women. This is a new low for Trump. Truly depraved.

Back to art. I'm not a huge fan of performance art, but Marina Abramovic is brilliant. "The Artist is Present," 2010 at MOMA - 600+ hours of sitting silently with only (I say "only," how difficult it must have been to maintain) eye contact with each visitor. "Cleaning the Mirror" is also genius.

Delete Google Maps, which now has substituted the "Gulf of Mexico" with the "Gulf of America." So far Apple Maps still holds the line. I may have to go back to paper maps. That might not be a bad thing.

I spent a fair amount of time with this early Dali in the Reina Sofia. The eye goes on forever out the window, and the more I looked, the more I felt the tension in the deceptively simple composition. You get the feeling that things are not quite right.

Art is the only thing that is going to get me through this facist uprising.

I don't go to SAM as much as I should, but when I do I always enjoy spending time with this Pollock - so much movement and energy. So many lines to try to trace.

On my 50th birthday, I saw this painting (special exhibit) at the Seattle Art Museum and it is not an exaggeration to say it changed my life. So subtle, so dark and deep. We are all dancing around the maypole.

I saw this tomb painting in Cairo, at the Egyptian Museum. Another ancient work (4600 years old!) that is strikingly modern. I love the symmetry and the sparse but effective composition. To boot, the red-breasted geese depict an extinct species!
