Truly I do feel that making Linux more accessible to a wider variety of folks is a worthwhile undertaking, and can only help to advance the cause

Until Linux comes preinstalled in more and more machines, however, I feel that widespread adoption will remain a steep, upward cliff to climb, sadly

I disagree as well, it is personal choice

The ability to customize and personalize is one of the many things that makes Linux great and unique in comparison to macOS and Windows

Ultimately, Linux provides choice and freedom

Though I do value rices with function and workflow over pure aesthetics

There is a pretty gross, crystal-clear violation of the GPL afoot.

Tibor appears to be unaware about the terms of the project's license, his "99% of the code is mine" remark is a poignant display of ignorance

Anyone that has contributed to the project can likely issue a DMCA against the future app

Linux was largely unheard of in my area, Windows reigned supreme

Even Mac OS / X was incredibly niche and seen as an exotic luxury product for the affluent

In High School, there was a mixture of computers running Windows 2000 and XP

I learned about Linux on my own through PC Magazines and the Net

I do not see anything wrong with using a DE vs. a WM, or one being for pros, different strokes for different folks

Window Managers lend themselves to a keyboard-centric workflow, and they tend to consume less resources, but DE's have come a long way as far as performance and RAM usage go these days

Linux is great, my favorite desktop environment is GNOME, I like the visual language of its app ecosystem, and I appreciate their interface guidelines

I still like macOS, but I do not plan to buy an Apple computer in the future

I only use Apple hardware when it is given or loaned to me these days

I was a die-hard Apple Fan for quite some time myself, my very first (and only) Mac was a 21.5 iMac, 2011 model

I used it for many years, and installed Debian on it after High Sierra reached End-of-Life status.

My faith on Apple Hardware has since dwindled, and now I use Linux on PC exclusively

I do feel that one of the main hurdles that stands in the way of more widespread adoption of Linux, in the domestic space, is that Linux does not ship pre-installed with computers

The average user does not know what an OS is, let alone how to change it, to them Windows or Mac are * the * computer

It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance.

I shall, hopefully sometime this upcoming week, I should have my personal laptop back by then
December 4, 2023 at 12:51 AM
I shall heed your advice

I will also consider Bazzite and Bluefin, the latter is especially compelling to me because I do currently use Silverblue on my laptop, Gentoo on desktop

I appreciate your advice, and your response, I look forward to stepping into the world of open source on the right foot

I appreciate your response, and the information

My main interest lies in development, but it seems unlikely at this point in time, because I do not have a programming language under my belt yet

I look forward to participating in the open source community in the future once I do have one, however

Color me curious, what minimum skills are to be expected, say, minimum programming experience?
