Simeon nodded vigorously. "Yes. So ready." They pressed a kiss to his cheek. "I wasn’t sure if you’d be able to pick me up or if they’d drive me over. I’m so glad you’re here."

Free from the cuffs at last, Simeon wasted no time throwing himself at Miles as soon as he saw him, hugging him without fear of accidentally strangling him with the heavy chains. He was clinging like a koala.

— He was fashioned with an ankle monitor then, the perimeter alarm set to his future house arrest location, aka Miles‘ home. Then he was led outside to meet with his escort.

Simeon was taken away, though he glanced back a few times. Just the one more night.

He didn’t get much sleep, the prospect of leaving the lumpy mattress behind was too exciting. In the morning, he collected all his belongings — it wasn’t much, mainly the letters he’d gotten and some trinkets. —

"Me neither…" Simeon smiled, feeling a sense of optimism he hadn’t in a very long time, if ever, really. "I‘ll see you tomorrow, Miles."
November 26, 2025 at 9:06 PM
"I will still try to," Simeon insisted stubbornly. "As soon as I’m able to." He hugged him once again before letting go, parting from him for the last time as the guards came to take him. "I will see you tomorrow, yes?"
November 26, 2025 at 7:58 PM
"I usually get along well with animals… We‘ll see," Simeon hummed. He leaned back a bit, peering at Miles. "This is all thanks to you, really. I have no idea how I‘ll ever make it up to you."
November 26, 2025 at 7:36 PM
Simeon‘s eyes were shining a bit at the prospect. "I‘m really gonna live with you…"
November 25, 2025 at 10:19 PM
Once again, Simeon leaned on him, more heavily this time. Hopefully the last time he had to do this while still cuffed. "It's hard to believe. But it is, yes. Just one more night, and I'll turn my back on that place..."
November 25, 2025 at 2:01 PM
— now. In the morning, he would turn his back on that awful prison and spend the rest of his sentence near the one he loved. He could not be happier.

— added that the logistics of it would be figured out following the trial. He would have to stay in prison for one more night while this was worked out and a monitor fitted, but that was that.

Simeon smiled as Eddie came over to congratulate him, glancing up at Miles. One more night was nothing, —

At this point, it seemed more of a formality, really. The judge shared his thoughts on the matter, and even made some poignant remarks about the system as a whole and holding it accountable. Simeon was granted to serve the remainder of his time on house arrest with an ankle monitor, and he —

Simeon nodded. He turned his head to steal a quick kiss. Then they were already calling them back inside.

"Quick deliberation," they commented. "Good sign, you think?"

Simeon leaned against him right away, smiling. “I didn’t even do anything, it’s all Eddie. But I agree, it sounded good.” He sighed, leaning his head against Miles’. “I look forward to not having my past dragged to the surface again like that, though.”

— hit her hard. She was hard to read, though.

The judge listened to all arguments, then called for a break for his final deliberation. Simeon followed Eddie out, who clapped him on the shoulder, telling him this looked pretty good to him.

— him had messed up to push him into it all in the first place. Franziska was coming at it more neutrally, from the actual crimes committed perspective. Simeon couldn't be sure, but he had the underlying feeling that some of Eddie's comments about corruption in law and its many victims —

It was a little strange, to hear on the one hand about the crimes they had been convicted for, and on the other the arguments for rehabilitation over punishment. A lot about his past was dragged to the surface, and Eddie had no qualms pointing out how deeply the system that was now punishing —

Simeon glanced up at him, breathing through. Eddie headed behind the defense bench, and the proceedings began.

While defense and prosecution argued their cases, Simeon spaced out a bit, focused on the empty witness stand.

Simeon smiled at him, then followed Eddie into the courtroom.

It was rather empty, the interest about the case seemed to have dwindled with time. Simeon didn't mind that, less eyes on their person helped with the nervousness. They sat down in the defendant chair, waiting for proceedings to begin.

"Rain check for that," Simeon hummed.

The bailiffs were calling them in now, Simeon took a deep breath. "Here goes nothing."

"You could put on a clown‘s nose." They reached up to poke his. "I‘m kidding. Will you be in the gallery? I think seeing you there would be good."
November 7, 2025 at 10:06 PM
Simeon winced slightly, but relaxed when he recognized Miles. "I hope so. I hate this. I know it‘s a good thing, but I hate it."
November 7, 2025 at 9:36 PM
The cuffs felt even heavier today than usual. Simeon rubbed his wrists underneath as they waited for the trial to start, tapping his foot nervously.
November 5, 2025 at 5:16 PM
Simeon hated to admit it, but he was getting nervous again. He still had a deep distrust in the justice system, and his unhelpful brain provided that it'd probably only get worse rather than better. But he worked with Eddie once again, and that made it a little easier. Having people on his side.
November 5, 2025 at 1:29 PM
Simeon didn’t let go of him until he had to, then let the guards escort him back to his cell. Hopefully, this wasn’t their situation for much longer.
