Had the urge to remind Apple of the correct name for the Gulf of Mexico, but it won’t let me send the issue.

#BB27 has enough social awareness to make OTEV Animal Farm meets the Godfather but can’t bring themselves to edit Riley as the groomer he is? This is what happens when the sociology major gets theory classes but no practical implementation.

It is important to alert the public to the damaging -- indeed lethal -- plans of the current Secretary of Health, which are becoming more apparent by the day: thehill.com/opinion/heal... @caulfieldtim.bsky.social @peterhotezmdphd.bsky.social @michaelemann.bsky.social @brendannyhan.bsky.social

there are absolutely speakers of American English who would ask you to lean forward then smack you with a cue card for suggesting that “each other” Isn’t perfectly grammatical in this context (eg Appalachian, ozark, most midland). Ultimately, choice prob says more about your speaker than listener

23 years ago, Marcellas' eviction served as a chilling warning to all future players that they should always use the veto.

Zach now stands as a testament to the fact that the lessons of history are always doomed to be forgotten; that everybody thinks they are the exception.

God save us all. #BB27

Waking up at 5:30 am to a severe thunderstorm with 80+ mph winds and was not exactly the most relaxing way to start the weekend. But @ketv7.bsky.social’s (all women) weather team, lead by @caitlinharveywx.bsky.social made for good company.

When your entire office can be seen from the hallway, you need a way to let your colleagues know that you are okay… the faraway look on your is because you are connecting with scientists all over the world at the @wmsymposium.bsky.social. Oh! And please do not disturb
A Hand drawn sign which reads “online working memory symposium. Tuesday thru Friday. Please wait for breaks if you need me! Thanks, Angela” is taped to a glass wall. On the other side of the glass is a very messy office with lots of plants

Hal and his sister Hero came to live with us about a year ago after being with the same human for over a decade. Hal just dragged my sweatshirt to a box and made himself a little bed. I think this cat finally feels at home.

Drs. Tiana Cowan, Ryan McCreery, and Lori Leibold present a new tool, the Children’s English and Spanish Speech Recognition (ChEgSS) test which will soon be available to facilitate speech perception testing with bilingual children.
Dr. Cowan stands behind a lectern while wearing a black blazer. A collection of water bottles from previous speakers has accumulated on top of the lectern (does that make the lectern a podium as well?) Dr. McCreery has on a plaid grey suit. He’s gesturing a classic Dr. McCreery gesture.

Dr. Dawna Lewis reviews evidence for remote microphone (RM) use with children whose hearing is audio-metrically typical but who have other special listening needs.
Dr. Lewis has curly white hair. Her final slide with take home messages listed is on the screen behind her.

In our final talk before lunch, Dr. Karen Muñoz from @utahstate.bsky.social reviews strategies audiologists can use to support parents as they learn about their child’s hearing aid (One communication strategy capitalizes on CHUNKING which makes my working memory heart so very happy)
Dr. Muñoz has chin length grey hair. She is dressed in all black. A slide list six barriers parents report for why children do not consistently wear their hearing aids. One barrier is not enough information or training.

Our next speaker, Dr. Kathryn Wiseman, tackled the challenging question of when to transition a pediatric hearing aid user into cochlear implant candidate.
Dr Wisman, in a navy blue top and khaki pants, stands behind a lectern. Her hands are crossed over her heart as she explains the challenges facing audiologists as the advise families who children are audio-metrically borderline for CI candidacy.

PAT Conference keynote speaker Dr. Susan Scollie from @westernuwin.bsky.social presents a historical review of the major advances in pediatric hearing aid fitting and highlights gaps that need to be addressed for future research.

We open with a tribute to the conference’s namesake, the late Dr. Pat Stelmachowicz, who was a pioneer in conducting pediatric hearing research specifically to inform clinical practice.
Dr. Michael Gorga, a distinguished white haired gentleman, stands at a lectern in front of a tiered conference room, to speak about his late wife and research partner, Dr Pat Stelmachowicz. Pat’s most recent Boys Town headshot is displayed on the screen. She is wearing a blue collard shirt.

The PAT Conference from Boys Town National Research Hospital brings the leading Pediatric Audiology Translational Research to clinicians and scientists. Follow along Friday (May 30) and Saturday (May 31) for live updates.
The dark pink and sky blue PAT conference schedules lays on the table next to a glass of orange juice and a cup of yogurt. A blurry PowerPoint slide with the speakers’s headshots is in the background.

The Trump regime is now using US Attorneys to intimidate academic journals by sending them letters demanding they explain how they ensure ‘viewpoint diversity.’ Journal editors should be public about this and coordinate to refuse to comply with these fascist tactics.

This project was especially important because it focused on high school students. Cognitive development during the teenage years is under-researched relative to changes occurring during childhood and early adulthood.
