Getting echos of “Why doesn’t George Osborne use his real name?” here.

Nah!

At least the radiators are probably modern enough not to warrant their being replaced. We’d have to find space for a hot water tank, though.

None of this is impossible, and may be currently affordable, even. The big question is “can we handle the stress of this along with everything else?”

A heat pump’s currently on the long finger for us. The house is about a century old and has no insulation in the walls. It may even be single brick with no air gap.

Getting internal insulation would be chaotic, external insulation expensive, and there’s always a damp problem retrofitting either.

Once you’ve seen what a Certain Fan did to a chocolate Hugo, it cannot be unseen.

I have thought for a long time you have to be a particular type of sociopath to be or want to be Home Secretary; one that not just accepts having the last remnants of your humanity being stripped away but actively enjoying it.

Back in the day, someone (not me or you) organised something and I was one of several hundred disappointed people turned away.

“Cinema” =/= “Movie Theater”, for crying out loud.

... who maybe doesn't want to watch the world burn, but won't care if it does as long as he gets what he wants.

End of rant.

I think there's an air of utter desperation which has led to this. Keep making the right noises and maybe, just maybe, the US will agree to what Denamrk and Iceland are already offering in regard to a military presence there.
They can't publicly admit they're dealing with a madman...

Now, part of that perceived timidity is fear of the Reformatives' perpetual screeching that any working with the EU is a treasonous Brexit bretrayal. But again, even Morgan McSweeney should have realised by now that you can't appease Fascists and need to do something else...

However, instead of seriously talking to the EU about how the UK can align with them in a way that's acceptable to them and may lessen the blows from the US, he seems to be fiddling at the edges: co-operation over refugees here, a student exchange there...

I almost feel sorry for Kier Starmer, but not quite.

He's in a hard place where he has the final say in a lot of things including UK-US relations, and knows the US can inflict terrible damage on the UK if it wants to. (Oops, all your Microsoft personal and business accounts have been shut down...)
