There wasn’t free speech on TT either. Anything about Palestine or any critique of the govt was flagged and taken down. It’s not an alternative because it’s a different app from a different country (TT was not from China). But it’s as good as anything else, I’m not giving Meta anything else of mine.

Also- America doesn’t have free speech if the govt is banning an app to censor Americans. It’s not about data, we all know that. Meta has stolen everyone’s data and sold it already, that’s over and done with. At this point we have as much free speech as China if the govt doesn’t stop censoring us

Of course it’s not a “free speech” app, it’s not made FOR Americans. It’s an app that was turned into a place for community and connection with ppl of different cultures. I’ve seen tons of LGBTQ+ thirst traps and discussions on there and they haven’t been banned. I’ve also seen political stuff too 🤷🏼‍♀️
