Even more than that it's the limitations of your own physical body which inform style.
mercurialblonde.bsky.social
You would need an AI superintelligence to create unique new and interesting art--and it would have to be able to do it without the prompting of humans bottleknecking it. And by that point humans are probably already long gone.
mercurialblonde.bsky.social
But actually the interaction of your specific body through time and space plays a large part in creating unique new styles. It's hyper specific to a degree that even if you get AI to the point where it factors in biometrics in its output-humans are incapable of articulating the infinite permutations

I think one of the by products of the way postmodern criticism has attempted to frame all art within the context of other art, is that there's a misunderstanding now that AI Bros have that artists literally are just mashing up other artists they like and that AI can do the same
mercurialblonde.bsky.social
The feeling of something being AI is a growing modern sensation. And it's not great.
mercurialblonde.bsky.social
That said there is a lot of AI art that is derivative of aesthetics that I do like, like Nihei, 80s/90s anime coloring styles etc and I do find those useful in very broad general ways--but even those, there's a crass memefication feel that's off putting.
mercurialblonde.bsky.social
It's honestly faster to just draw.

Yeah where it gets boring for me is that you can really only do stuff that has been done before and was popular enough to be uploaded online somewhere. And then within that you have to play by a very Disney level TOS. I'd never be able to get it to translate the things my own imagination produces

So AI video generation seems to have gone a long way in a short time - there are shots here that don't have any weirdness on them. The thing is, this is still a *toy*. There's no way to justify spending billions on d at centres for some silly videos. It isn't a trillion dollar business.

Gosford Park was written by the same guy. That's why I liked it. Was more Gosford Park.

Didn't watch the Sopranos, never got into breaking bad or walking dead, don't care about anything Star Wars that George Lucas didn't direct, never read or watched Harry Potter.

Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?

I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.

Before she got there it wasn't really coming together. Her arrival is what brought better free agents, a new GM, and coach. People forget how good she is because of the injuries this season. Her and AB have a Stockton/Malone thing going and Kelsey gets so many free layups with CC on the floor.

That's a huge miss though. Also Sophie is an upgrade on Lexie and more consistent offensively. But not having CC is like the Aces not having A'ja. You think the Aces make the finals with no A'ja? Caitlin is a top 3 player in the W.
mercurialblonde.bsky.social
That's why I only listed 3 bench players. Sims/Ari rotate in with Kelsey/Caitlin. Lexie rotates in for Sophie or we can go small with Sophie at the 4 depending on game state. And then KK rotates in for the bigs.
mercurialblonde.bsky.social
CC
Kelz
Sophie
Howard
AB

Lexie, Sims or Mcdonald (Whichever is cheaper), KK round out the rotation next season.

Rest of the bench would be: Powers, Turner, Dontas, Peddy

I used to think that, but in the face of what Israel and America are currently doing right now, it's hard for me to really get super judgey on Saudi Arabia. It's intensely hypocritical of Americans to say anything about anyone right now. At least KSA is on the right side of history in Gaza.

I think the train has already left the station on that one.

JUST IN: A U.S. citizen from Alabama who has been detained twice by ICE while working at a construction site, has filed a class action suit claiming ICE's broad warrantless arrest powers violate the constitution. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
mercurialblonde.bsky.social
I'm not sure it's any more dubious than doing a USO tour, something that has been fairly accepted for decades without question.
danlehner.bsky.social
if you did a gig for, like, ICE it would be widely understood to be a huge, pathetic moral failing and doing a gig for the House of Saud is worse than that by like a mile

Also Sophie Cunningham was balling out before getting injured. Aari McDonald too. A lot of teams would have folded but the GM kept signing good players and the team just kept going. Most resilient team I've ever seen.
