The IRS is a tax agency we have to interact with, and also a key means that a lot of safety net programs (EITC, CTC) are delivered.
Since Trump took over, the IRS has
*lost 3/4ths of agency leadership
*one quarter of employees
*is now on its 8th leader
New leader has no experience, also leading SSA
The stakes are high. The IRS was responsible for collecting $5 trillion in revenue in 2024. The agency received about 160 million individual income tax returns and issued around 100 million refunds, with an average refund of about $3,000. Those dollars represent essential funds for lower-income households, many of whom are already bearing the burden of higher prices and the illegal withholding of SNAP benefits this fall. If the IRS falters, millions of Americans will feel real economic pain.

Speaking of “hanging out”, a few years ago there was a gentleman who would heave a full La-Z-Boy recliner out of his van and onto the grass down there and just chill for hours. Ridiculous, yet…hard to argue with😂
