I just got back from a stay in Townsville QLD and saw this species for the first time. It’s an impressive bird - and that is an impressive shot, well done!

I spent a long while looking for my mum’s cut crystal footed trifle bowl only to learn it had been donated before her last move. Given its single-use status, I get it, but was a little gutted nevertheless.

Tips for small home espresso machines: don’t overfill the basket with grounds; don’t tamp the grounds with gusto, gently press them into place; extract just a single shot, 30ml or less. Based on how strong I like my coffee, my home machine can produce a cortado at best, it can’t make a latte in 1 go

I kinda feel that scrolling through the clutter is the price I pay for the labour of the blogger to test, cook, photograph, and write up the recipe. Those ads are how they get paid and enable you to get recipes for free. Quid pro quo.

Mammograms are so uncomfortable and just generally tedious. Cancer is obviously factors worse. Anyone who can’t do a cost/benefit analysis here, well, that’s on them.

I saw it as an exhibition in Sydney/ art gallery of NSW in 2016 and I think about different scenes regularly. Powerful stuff.

I visited a remote beach today in PNW BC, imagining very few others would be there+a high likelihood of bears…ha, no. Having driven 105mins on logging roads, seeing the devastation of clear cuts en route, the carpark was overflowing, 100s of campers and day trippers filling said beautiful beach.
