went to a "Santa's Workshop" yesterday where a roomful of volunteers were sewing simple Christmas stockings to facilitate donating little gift bundles to farmworkers' children. nothing makes commodity fetishism more stark than struggling to sew a single sock in 2.5 hours. but i did it!!

go the latin > french route of shortening "blundus" to "blond" and you could get from "griseus" to "gris"/"grise" (actual french adjective for grey) or from "canities" (noun for grey-white hair on an old person) to something like "canité"/"canitée". or maybe canté/cantée?

fabric pen may not work for marking faux leather, but it turns out that wet-erase market seems to! my hand sewing continues, more evenly spaced this time.

my "sewing" challenge for today was supposed to be throwing together a ghost costume for my dog, but she was so freaked out by having a sheet thrown over her face for eyehole measurement that I just pinned together a little poncho thing with earholes. close enough for the photo shoot!

I'm still using the dining room table covering in a towel for my ironing board, so unfortunately I can't pull that off yet! (I did ask for one for Christmas though.)
I eventually managed to get through the whole two feet using wood-and-stone coasters as clappers, and left it overnight.

Sewists and other crafty folks, does anybody recognize what these foam pads are for? I regularly look through the "stationery and miscellaneous" aisle at my local Goodwill for cheap craft supplies, and I'm contemplating grabbing one or two for use in cushions, but...what ARE they for???

As I mentioned elsewhere, someone does make a 'fix everything' comment tongue in cheek, and there are other vaguer inquiries about a third reich. A lot of people do warn that it's the third reich that's a problem, but Meta IS designed to feed you search questions.

he gave a straightforward explanation of why he thought it was less effective—his reasoning was that saying you won't support dems in the general will make dem primary voters see you as an enemy and thus ignore you. do you mean he didn't give concrete evidence or statistics to support his reasoning?
