A smaller calico cat sits contentedly on a quilt she has gathered into a comfy pile. The quilt is made of a variety of fabrics, mostly cornflower and navy blue floral patterns, cut into rectangles and then framed as squares with an off-white floral trim.

Got treated to a pretty pastel sunrise on this frosty morning.
An old abandoned barn is backlit by the sunrise. The gray-blue sky is streaked with long, wispy clouds in shades of pale yellow. The brightest sunlight is just behind the barn’s cupola which is topped by a weathervane. The barn is also surrounded by a field of beige tumbleweed plants (Russian Thistles) which glisten with frost.

Yesterday I did not do office work or non-pet related chores or even pack my bag for my next surgery on Wed. Instead, I escaped into my studio to recharge.
Today the guilt of doing so is trying to sneak in - so I’m posting my small win in the constant battle against the burnout cycle to shut it up.
The photo shows a messy desk with a partially finished necklace pendant. The stone in the pendant is a blue-green amazonite, which has been cabbed into a triangle with rounded corners and is set in scalloped silver bezel. You can also see some of the tools used to create it, including: a small hand torch; a soldering pad and wire holder; a jar of water for cooling hot items; a slide gauge; and a mix of pliers, nippers and tweezers. You can also see scraps of silver bezel and two other cabochons waiting to be worked on.

Since our neighbor’s house burned their barn cats have had a little too much fun. When the weather turned cold 13 of them tried to squat in my crawl space. I’ve had to evict them to the spare bedroom while I get them fixed, healthy and socialized. Here’s part of the cute crew.
