Why We Fight RPG just arrived. It’s a GM-less solo/co-op game about groups of people fighting against a fascism takeover. Each player controls 4 characters and will learn about them as you play.

Doing final touch up painting on pre painted Warsenal terrain. Pre painted MDF is a great timesaver but you still need to paint the unpainted edges.

Painted up a bunch of Manticore Borz Group minis for BLKOUT. I was dreading these because of the small detail but focused on just dry-brushing and then adding 2 highlight colors. Happy with the vibes… they have an intimidating presence.
Borz group minis painted dark purple with black wash and some red and gold highlights. They have alien themed bases (blue with pink growth) to make them feel alien and intimidating.

Built a bunch of MDF terrain today. The space elevator set for BLKOUT and some pre painted MDF street terrain from Warsenal.
A huge stack of MDF buildings, ladders, and bridges. Pre-painted MDF terrain with a Judge Dredd figure added for scale. Loving the pre-painted look!

I’m working on a murder mystery tile matching game. There are 3 sets of tiles at the bottom of the stack that represent the suspects.
Before marching a suspect tile to ‘accuse’ you need to match general tiles to reveal clues to narrow down the suspects. 1-2 player.
Hot pot tiles used for playtest. This is a match 3 variant so there are tiles left over. Left over tiles are used to randomly pick the killer and to make a clue pile. Picked tiles go to a board (7spaces) until 3 matches are made and they are removed and scored. 3 sets of scored tiles of the same color allow a draw from the clue pile. Clue pile tiles face down. There are 3 sets of tiles at the bottom of the stack that represent the suspects. Matching sets of general tiles lets you draw tiles from clue pile. Match a suspect tiles is to ‘accuse’ that character… so you need to collect as many clue tiles as you can to narrow down the suspects. The game ends when a set of suspects tiles are matched. If you chose the correct suspect then you win. Tile placement can make it possible to lose early (no matches available) or because your tile holding spaces are all full when you have to draw.

BLKOUT custom case is here and fits everything. Most of the minis are stuck to the bases with green stuff for now so I can quickly spray on a primer coat before the big rainstorm hits tomorrow.
3D printed case for BLKOUT miniature game. It has 2 magnetic trays for miniatures as well as a pullout tray for tokens and cards.

Played a quick learning game of Blkout today. Still building most of the minis so I had to use some proxies. I like how fast it plays!

I’m using the Black Powder Red Earth 2D terrain to make things easier while I’m learning. I need to build some mechs next!
3D minis on a 2D map. Bors group and a specialist hacker attempt to hack into the drone data center to knock out all the UN automatic defenses in the zone. So many drones appear that they are forced to call off the mission…

Two new games arrived just in time for holiday hobby time… Unmatched Adventures TMNT and BLKOUT. I will be learning and playing both of these games over the next two weeks.
Blkout skirmish game 2 player set and mech kit boxes. TMNT cover and miniatures expansion. Shows several card expansions and extra miniature tokens.

TMNT and Other Strangeness was my favorite RPG growing up because of its crazy mutant character creation system. Unfortunately the core rules were a bit of a mess. This new version (Redux) has really cleaned up the system so it’s actually playable!

Working on more terrain for my tiny 10mm scale version of Space Gits. I will magnetize the set so I can store it in a metal lunchbox as an easy travel skirmish game.

I’ve been playing some learning games of Fireball Forward and really enjoying it. I’ve found that the game feels better when using small scale terrain (10mm terrain with 20mm figures) because it reinforces that the miniatures represent larger forces than you see.
20mm WW2 figures with 10mm terrain. 20mm WW2 figures with 20mm terrain feels more like a skirmish game than a larger tactical game where the bases represent full squads or other formations.

Working on a setup to play Space Gits at 10mm scale instead of the usual 28mm scale.

So far it’s working out well… I just need to find some tiny RPG dice for the weapon damage.

The dexterity skill base dice rolling reminds me of the old Bloodbowl game Kerrunch.

Quick playing skirmish rules that feel like a mix of Too Fat Lardies and Pulp Alley. Going to test out the system doing a heist mission with Yakuza vs Movie Cops and a few civilians thrown into the mix.

A solo RPG set in the Citizen Sleeper universe that uses custom dice and a custom tarot deck. Playing a sleeper in this universe is extremely impactful. The only downside is that the game was an extremely limited release…
