Yeah. Basically it's when the outer bark of a tree is already frozen, but the temperature keeps dropping. When the moisture inside the trunk starts to freeze, it tries to expand, but the frozen bark won't give way until CRACK.

Sleep anyway. Things are gonna only be worse if you have to meet them tired.
Also, don't ever trust your own judgement on the magnitude of any problem if you're tired. I've once cried at 2 am because I had to go to the store for groceries the next day. Being tired messes with your brain.
