Hey friends, I'm trans. My name is Kara and my pronouns are she/her. I've written a little more on the image (see alt text if needed). Otherwise, it's nice to meet you!

Hello. I'm Kara.
It’s nice to meet you.

Below, the body text:
Hey friends,
I'm trans. My name is Kara, my pronouns are she/her. If you know me this may be a surprise. Or not, that's also allowed.
In short: I've known for quite some time and been out in private when needed. Overall things are good. I'm mostly happy. The world however, is a mess. So it goes. And it goes, and goes, and goes. It never stops going. Am I afraid? Sure, in increments. For myself, a little. I'm worried about my career, about violence, about restricted access to life-saving care, about the things people say quietly, about the things people say loudly. But I'm more worried about those more vulnerable, with less relative privilege than me, struggling against a seemingly relentless tide. Help them, however you can, please.
"Coming out" is scary and cringe. It is a fundamental altering of the relationships between you and everyone you ever knew. Maybe one day we'll live in a world where this isn't 'a big deal'. "I moved house, I got a new job, I'm trans, I’m really into baking now. What's new with you?". To learn something this big about yourself later in life is a funny thing. Like finding new rooms in your home that were never on the floorplan, and now you get to explore and decorate them. You're telling me under this awful carpet there was pristine Victorian tile the whole time? Wow!
If I know you and you have questions, feel free to message me. If you don't know "what to do", don't do anything, just continue. I am the same person as before. Despite everything, it's still me.
I would like to extend a special thanks to the people who already knew and were really cool about it, especially in complex social and work situations. Thanks.

Strategically coming out over a year before the release of Supergirl (2026) so that nobody thinks I named myself after a DCU character. Now I only have to explain I've never seen Battlestar Galactica to people 🙏

leaving a 1-star review on I Cant Believe Its Not Butter because I believe it's butter
metacrab.org
it's actually OK to laugh at the person who spent 90 mins playing the "the odds are real" game, then chose to write an algorithm-impacting negative review claiming "the odds are fake!!!" (then played it for 2 more hours)
metacrab.org
I understand why so many real mathematicians sent angry letters about it. It doesnt FEEL true
metacrab.org
I think they're mistaken, I strongly doubt they flipped the coin 2500 times with a 60% chance of heads and only got 30% heads. The coin starts at 20%, so they're probably remembering that. The total numbers aren't displayed, so the user is guessing based off what feels emotionally true to them
metacrab.org
quoting a few different people but "the odds of flipping 10 heads in a row are 100% if you don't stop flipping"
metacrab.org
The odds are real, its called "unfair flips" because it starts at 20% chance of Heads (theres narrative text in the game talking about how people dont believe odds)
metacrab.org
People are sharing a lot of examples in the replies and QRTs. Common tactics include lying about odds (giving 80% on a 60% etc) and guaranteeing successes after a certain number of failures
metacrab.org
Haha, I did pin it last night to make it easier for people to find. Thank yoouuuu 🥰
metacrab.org
yeah it's pretty harsh. if you're at 70% and someone leaves a negative review it pushes into Mixed (really bad obviously) and takes way more positive reviews to recover. this is worse the higher the score
metacrab.org
its just one of those things thats really, really hard for people to understand. like the birthday problem en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birthda...

that's smart, with four Wheels of Fortune you're guaranteed at least 1 success!

as someone with a game on steam literally anything is fine! the content of the review is a lot less important than the thumbs up or thumbs down. every negative review takes like 7 positive reviews to offset it (for the aggregate ratings)
metacrab.org
I try to leave a positive review of every game I got something from. it genuinely helps re: the steam algo
metacrab.org
The game in which the premise is "the odds are real but gamers struggle to conceptualize or even believe them" has negative reviews from gamers who don't believe the odds are real (game: Unfair Flips)
A 'Not Recommended' Steam review with 4 hours played

Review text reads: It's a decent idea for a game where you flip a coin and depending on your percentage chances you get heads or tails. However the odds are a lie. You will flip tails 100 percent more than you will heads no matter what your percentage is. Even when you get it up to 60% you will still flip tails way more often then you will heads.

The Dev can try to defend it, but when I flip the coin 2500 times and only hit heads a third of the time even when at 60% then the odds are broken or a lie. I've also watched gameplay and seen fellow players have the same flips so I know it isn't just me having bad luck.

Still not bad for $2, but I'm saying no because the game is coded against you instead of it being fully on chance and luck.

so-called Cat Manning talks a big game about stealing good moments in-between unbearable weeks, yet she hasn't overturned a single Executive Order?? Curious....

I had a really long NYT Crossword streak that finally broke when there was a strike. It was fun at times (e.g 20 drunk people at a hotel bar helping me solve before midnight) but once the illusion shattered it was clear all i'd been doing was learning how to answer Will Shortz NYT crosswords lol
