I think the difference is that businesses like the current situation because it’s easier to exploit undocumented immigrants. The jobs need to be done, so shifting enforcement to businesses necessarily requires making it much easier to acquire work visas / perm residency / citizenship

The answer for a lot of people could be childhood diseases. I had a pretty bad case of pneumonia when I was 6. Without modern antibiotics that could have Got me.

It also ignores the difference between tech labor and tech capital. “Tech Bro” used to refer to e.g. a 24 year old man who makes a lot of money for his age but has kind of weird and annoying hobbies. But now it’s also used to mean “billionaire venture capitalist”.

Most cars currently require a frequent connection to the global system of gasoline distribution. I think even if the fail-safe is to uncap the speed limit to 55 or something (maybe you can only go faster if GPS confirms you're actually on a highway) it would still save a lot of lives.

It's a shame the label only goes up to 100 ( I hope @stechlab-labels.bsky.social will consider adding more), because I feel like there are days where he makes over 1000 posts lol
