Métis have the right to be consulted by the federal gov't on a collective basis respecting our rights, interests and needs as Indigenous people. The MFC was an intervenor and our founding president Robert Pilon (pictured left) was there.

Both have the right to say who they are in community with. Neither has the right to declare anyone outside their circle is not Métis.

Métis communities mentioned by Métis historian Lawrence Barkwell from a document compiled for the Riel Institute. It wasn't until recently that Métis Homeland maps were revised to exclude them.
