I like to think of them as “cooperatively competitive” because for whatever reason with wargames if we don’t both end up happy with the win/loss it’s super awkward

This is why I like playing you, because you have cool thematic armies, and a really strong understanding of the rules. So I end up a better player, and with really cool photos of the battle

At “narrative” events I’ve found a bigger variance in the understanding of the rules, which means I have to introduce a conflict more often. But i think I’m a bit of a bit of a pushover when someone has a unique interpretation of the rules, I’ll just go with it & get the interaction over asap

Anecdotal but whenever I’ve been in a “comp” environment everyone has been REALLY nice, but I’ve still not enjoyed myself cuz I’m just not competitive.

imo neither are toxic, they’re just different. People understand you can play a sport competitively or as a lark. I don’t know why in our hobby the two are so quick to pull up their drawbridges

Was only trying to help by suggesting a few different options

Neither do I, but there’s people who will print your stuff in exchange for monies. If you want to stick to plastics some Victrix Napoleonics, creepy bits and green stuff is probably the way to go

I think you’ve just summarised why I love the 40K setting better than I’ve ever managed to, and you did it in one sentence 😅
