I usually just reload the vidgrid window if there is trouble - now it stopped the chaos when I closed the window and reopened it - but it was around the same time when you restored it so it's not possible to tell which one fixed it.

ok I have some idea now, btw chatGPT says "Write the Hash to public/version.json at Build Time" which is a way of running away from the variable problem, but I love its simplicity.

newVersion.buildHash is undefined (missing) now so there is a chance it will never trigger the dialog as this will be stored in vidgrid_build_hash
Actually it will, as 'undefined' === undefined will be false
