Things I love: picture books, writing bad poetry, overthinking, being a librarian(ish), my two kids, and making lists.
I fear that I would have *too* much fun if my school had a poster printer 😂 loved all the vendor swag at the @oelma.bsky.social conference!

Highlight of the @oelma.bsky.social conference was meeting @librarianjones.com and hearing her fantastic keynote! As a newer school librarian, I’m so inspired by her advocacy.

Weed with me! We made it through the 5k guided readers that had sat untouched for 2 years 🙌🏻

Adventures in elementary library weeding - I genuinely want to watch this though 😂 Martin Short and Molly Ringwald circa 1985? Should be fantastic.

As a former kid who spent hours poring through every school yearbook, it makes me happy to see my kids doing the same. And as a bonus, I’m responsible for the entire yearbook process at the school, so I am VERY glad they’re finally out of my hands 😅

The #p4a2025 vibes will be everlasting with this amazing find at Marshall’s! Honk and Bonk’s long lost cousin, Jonk, perhaps? @hankgreen.bsky.social @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social @projectforawesome.bsky.social

Throwback to the first Project for Awesome that I was *really* into and when I found the Tuataria community - when baby Hazel was just a year old. Now she’s 6.5 and asked me if I’m “watching the pizza guys again” 😂 #P4A2025 #P4A #nerdfighteria

Come with me as I pull books for our PK-2 school library’s #blackhistorymonth book display! These are just a few of our many titles that tell stories of Black history and Black futures - and we read them all year round #EduSky #TLSky #schoollibrarian

After all the talk about Target pulling back on its DEI initiatives and removing black owned brands, I was surprised to see this email in my inbox

One of our teachers had all of her students write apology notes to each specials teacher after a few weeks of rough behavior. They hand delivered them and spoke their apology too. I started class with a convo about fresh starts! ♥️ I love this teacher so much for this. #edusky

Did you know that anyone with a valid govt ID can get a free library card at the @librarycongress.bsky.social and use the Reading Room for research? Such a neat experience! #librariesareforeveryone

Bit of an ominous view of the Capitol building on the last night of 2024 😳 storm’s a brewing…

Visiting my childhood library to study for the School Librarian Praxis test that I’m taking tomorrow - loved to see a familiar @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social quote in the teen section! 📚 #TLsky #publiclibraries

The students are going to LOVE this display I’m working on - the first poster featuring our therapy dog Buddy, of course 🥹 #TLsky #edusky #schoollibrary

I’m teaching typing to kindergarteners, some of whom are still struggling with letter recognition. Add in the fun that the Chromebook keyboards are lowercase (why???) while every other teaching tool I’ve used before shows uppercase, and I’ve had to get very creative with my lesson plans 🙃

Don’t worry though, I’m keeping *plenty* of her beautiful artwork 🎨

On Friday afternoon, when I was nearing a breaking point, I picked up my phone to see a message inviting me to a bonfire on Sunday night. Nothing too fancy, she said, just gathering our broken hearts together to be in community & release what we could no longer carry alone. 1/
