We saw a brief resurgence of power within an Obama coalition, which itself will admit was not perfect, but brought together so many people, they made things happen. The Biden administration did amazing things because they listened to progressives a lot of the time, though not always.

The backlash to the Civil Rights Amendment was so sudden and all encompassing, Dems learned the wrong lesson. If you don't double down on what you claim to believe in, the people will see you for the phoney you are. In the war of GOP and GOPlite, people will pick the real thing all day.
