So many of them desperately trying to figure out the magic recipe for how to win power without actually having to use power to do anything positive for the people who vote for them. Newsom seems to have tumbled to the idea that bigotry is the secret sauce. No mystery why Ronnie would be his hero.

The common factor in all these cases and especially clear here and in the Texas A&M case from a couple months ago is the asymmetry of consequences. The troll has nothing to lose in their pursuit of right wing internet fame, while the professor stands to lose everything.

As soon as the resolution was introduced, it was going to pass. Garcia is farther left than most Dems - Chicago or otherwise, so I just see this as more of the center trying for some beatdown theater. Maybe Gluesenkamp-Perez and the other 22 Dems need a Sister Souljah moment to keep their seats.

There are three other Chicago area Dem primaries where the incumbent faces a primary challenger. Garcia didn’t only because he is enormously popular in his district. Even if Garcia were the only candidate, they would still hold the primary. So why would a centrist Dem from far away raise a stink?

I guess I just don’t understand what all the outrage is about. All he did was file as usual and keep his mouth shut. Anyone failing to file because they were afraid or just couldn’t be bothered probably isn’t worth voting for in the primary anyway.

Not my district, but close enough to be interested. One side-effect of the petition system is that it weeds out those who are too lazy or too dumb to hedge their bets on the off chance the seat they covet might become vacant. We’ve already got too many D reps making a career of getting outfoxed.

It takes all of 685 petition signatures to run in the Democratic primary in that district. Chuy keeping quiet about his plans is hardly the rat-fuck of the century, let alone “Election Subversion by Democrats” as CNN blared for 10 minutes during prime time knowing full well what they were doing.

Yet another great reason to expand the House!

Yup. Anti-immigrant too. Everything was fine and dandy when black and brown folks were content to pick crops and mop floors. Can’t have ‘em getting big ideas about taking trade jobs and sending their kids off to college.

Ha, no doubt. I’ll never understand how anyone thinks turning social security into some sort of stock investment scheme is a good idea - almost as bad as replacing it with Bitcoin or Beanie Babies. I wonder how the people who originally designed the system in the 1930’s knew this?

If anything, the Harris campaign aimed for moderate conservatives, and Trump lost essentially no votes and Harris lost millions. Diet Republican policies worked for Clinton 30 years ago, but Trump’s consistent vote total v Dem’s cratering total indicates heavily that it’s a losing tactic now.
