I build things
I asked for some changes and all I got was a big code block in my chat response that I could copy to clipboard. I didn’t see a way to apply them line by line. Maybe I missed it, or maybe I should have used “Compare selection with clipboard”?

My trial ended so I can’t go back and check 😅

Yeah never mind, Webstorm is still far behind. It doesn't even apply diffs to files yet.

Just checked and just as I thought Cursor also sends your edits automatically now. Very nice!

For some tasks such as codebase-wide refactoring I haven’t seen anything come close to Cline/Roo’s capabilities. Since it’s bring-your-own-key, it has no incentive to keep context to the minimum it can get away with. As a result it burns through credits, but has incredible awareness and retention.

I will give Cursor another go soon to get an up-to date comparison. I recently saw that Webstorm has also improved their AI interface, probably worth a look. Since they are all running the same models now, what it really comes down to is 1. the UX and 2. how they manage the chat context.

This was before “iterate on lint errors” was as good as it is now, so often I would fix small type errors or imports by hand before continuing with the task, but Cursor would overwrite those unless I specifically told it to read changes. I was unable to automate this with cursorrules.

I remember Cursor at the time being really frustrating in this regard. I always had to start my followup prompts with something like “I made some changes to the file, check its latest contents before continuing”, otherwise it would just assume that it can continue where it left off.
