I’m a grumpy old man but sometimes I’m just old.
I have opinions, but I do listen.
Well that’s a pity. No more Neeson films here.

History always repeats! Dominion of Newfoundland Prime Minister Monroe, elected on a right wing pro business agenda. He axed personal income tax & reduced corporate taxes. His plan was to replace lost revenue with TARIFFS!
The result was near bankruptcy of the country and the loss of independence.

Trump has surrounded himself with insecure man-boys trapped in their adolescence & women d'un âge certain, stuck in their sturm und drang phase.
His administration is the pinnacle of lethal dysfunction.

Hasn’t Netflix been over priced for several years now?
We bailed when the price increased well beyond inflation.
Another example of bigger is not better for consumers.
Perhaps millennials will figure out that neoliberalism is a bust for them & they have the votes to change that if they engage.

Great article! One small niggle, the first trans Atlantic telegraph cable(s) were landed in Newfoundland from Ireland, not the “US”. From Newfoundland they connected with a cable, laid previously from Newfoundland to Nova Scotia and then to the US.

Philandering President honoured by philandering Royal — pfft!

Well, your VicePresident certainly seems to imply that.
Sadly when the Democrats are finally in a position to bring the Perps to justice, true to form their resolve will dissolve, paving the way for maga’s return to power.
Question is, will anyone have stomach for US version of the Nuremberg trials?

Where does that come from?
Americans, including my 1st cousins, were, of course, exuberant, but also generous and kind.
What we now see from outside looking in, is the disappearance of morals and ethics in politics & the normalizing of arrogance and cruelty amongst the public at large.

As an observer — a concerned 🇨🇦 — I think America’s greatest challenge is conquering endemic hubris, e.g. the myth of American exceptionalism.
While it’s energized American culture, it seems also to have fortified a corrosive denialism.
Prob solving begins with acceptance that there’s a problem.

Years ago in DC for meetings & having a little time to kill before my return flight, I visited Rosevelt Memorial.
It was a powerfully moving experience.
FDRs interest in HRts was driven by his moral compass, but also economic pragmatism. When everyone reaches their potential, a nation is better off.

Does anyone actually believe that Trump’s efforts were anything more than grotesque theatre meant to convince members of his cult that he wasn’t Putin’s puppet?
