I think they already had the short program but you had 3 components—compulsories, short, and long programs.

Presumably he's just planning to cheat so much that it won't matter that people hate him and his party?
February 4, 2026 at 7:34 PM
If I'd known it was gonna be THAT kind of party...

Jed! As an Ex A’s fan I loved his career arc, including being a first time all star at 34 and then signing a big money deal with the Mets and literally not getting a single hit in their uniform.

well or to be more precise they wanted him to hurt the "right" people...but Mpls shows he's going beyond that. Even Good tho white was a woman and had a female partner to boot. But Pretti was a while straight male and a legal gun owner.

100% that's what gets him to the 46-47 percent ceiling people who want to "own the libs", who want the performative cruelty more than they want healthcare. See my comment about us being a "shithole country". But the last little bit to put him over the top were the "eggs are too expensive" cohort.
January 31, 2026 at 6:33 PM
At least this got him the last 2-3 percent which out him over the top. Without this his ceiling in the popular vote is about 46-47 percent—not enough to win—BUT still what a shithole country we have to be for it to be more than, say 5-10 percent.

Right. It was a vague sense of “things were better before Covid” (which they weren’t wrong) so “let’s vote for the guy who was Prez before Covid” (which while technically not wrong in a very narrow sense that yes he was prez in 2019, belied a lot of, shall we say complexity).

It’s funny because it’s true…

Isn't McCarthy Temu Mike Tomlin? Won SB in the aughts with a future HOF QB, but since then decent regular season success w/o anything to show for it in the playoffs...

People joke sometimes about the 3rd amendment being a quaint anachronism, but really (as @joshtpm.bsky.social points out) whether they're in your guest room or the Hilton Garden Inn down the street isn't the point, they are an occupying force trying to bring a subjugated territory into compliance.

I agree wholeheartedly for “Project 2029” it has to be ICE is blown up and start over from scratch on a small, constrained immigration force.

BUT this doesn’t sound terrible to me for now as current demands given our current leverage?

And if grandma had a dick, she *could* be grandpa…
January 28, 2026 at 6:54 AM
Um because a disturbingly high percentage of Americans agree with him? Including (shockingly and stupidly) a non-trivial number of non white Americans?

Fair but I'll take it.

I’ve never been a Msft guy but I feel like Nadella for one has done a better job of threading the needle. Not saying he’s a hero of the resistance or anything, but managed to not be shamelessly fawning like Cook.
January 25, 2026 at 5:34 AM
There’s minimal “go along to get along” level that I’ll give a bit of a pass for but Cook has gone beyond that to a level which shouldn’t be necessary for Apple.
January 25, 2026 at 5:31 AM
That’s what I’ve been saying. I of course find him not just disgusting but boring; but intellectually I know there is a tranche of the public that finds his performative assholery entertaining.

But Vance et al? Not so much…

They f@cked with the wrong Marines. “Minnesota Nice” doesn’t mean what you think it means.

that's a good one too, but again my exact age and geography I remember him being good with the Pirates as a late-career resurgence and desperately wanted my Reds to trade for him / hated how good he was for our rival Giants!!
January 21, 2026 at 3:07 AM
also with my exact age (51) I have had to retroactively gain an appreciation for the Weaver Orioles. I saw him in his ill-fated comeback attempt. Only now do I realize what a special thing they had with the "oriole way" incl how many "sneaky-good" guys they had--Grich, Ken Singleton, Al Bumbry etc.

not disagreeing with the overall sentiment! just a finer distinction between the two 2Bmen in my mind.

3. Schilling, though unquestionably deserving on the field can, as another poster suggests, eat shit.
