It is astounding to me just how little regular people read now. I remember everyone reading at least the daily paper (and not just the sports pages) when I was a kid. And I grew up in a pretty rural and working poor area. Now people just watches everything.

Honest question: would moderate deflation in food or personal services (hair, nails, etc) delay purchases? The nature of those goods and services are that they are unable to be delayed. The logic or durable and non-durable goods always made sense, but these didn’t to me.

Man I miss TV schedules. Having this on before dinner with Cheers and dad watching M*A*S*H was just comfort for the soul. It was just a vibe hearing that on in the background every weeknight.

Had that experience and it’s not possible. The 911 dispatcher chose who to dispatch based on location and I get to eat it. Great system.

Rational people are not saying affordability isn’t a real thing. The issue is the statement claiming “poverty” at $140k in family income. The Wall Streeter making that statement has clearly never seen real poverty and has his head so far up his own ass that not having DoorDash is being poor.
