AI researcher and strategist.
I just realized why so many people prefer Claude to other AI - Dario Amodei is a biologist and neuroscientist, not just a computer scientist.

Different background → different AI. More human, less robotic.

Try various AI tools, find the one that clicks for you.

🔺For writing text, OpenAI models are used in 45.2% requests in Poe, while Anthropic’s - in 31.5%.
This is Anthropic’s win, as OpenAI has ~20 times advantage in visibility, with 500 million MAU.
🧐 Is this a result of excellent work done by Amanda Askell and her team? I think so.

Hadas Lorber and Yaron Shilat published an opinion column in Jerusalem Post about unlocking #Israel's #AI potential. While Israel leads globally in AI skills, only 9.1% of Israeli companies currently use advanced AI applications.

Here is my comment:

Happy New Year! It should be a year when at least 1% of humans will see great potential of infinitely scalable cognition.
Immediate effect for 🇪🇹 Ethiopia: 10 million AI-diagnosticians and 10 million AI teaching assistants.

I tested AI's intellectual power by asking Claude 3.5 Sonnet and GPT o1 to use Propp's theory of fairy tales to write and analyze a story about AI development. They brilliantly handled both tasks - creating the tale and breaking it down through Propp's theoretical framework.

Sam Altman leads OpenAI with Zen-like calm but investors need him to counter attacks. In a Free Press interview with Bari Weiss, he revealed that ChatGPT's free tier loses money and called Musk "a jerk on Twitter." The platform choice was strategic, given its Musk-friendly audience.

In MSU, we used our math textbook to open wine bottles by pressing it to the wall and tapping bottle against it. Physics worked.

Today, using GenAI just for basic tasks like translation or image generation reminds me of that - taking a powerful intellectual tool and using it as a simple utility.

Where do you see context windows going, what is the balance between its growth and RAG?

Sam Altman: In several months we will have context window of 10 million tokens. In several years – 10 trillion.

👴🏾Gray hair + Generative AI = Victory!
Senior partners, professors and executives will outperform young pros thanks to AI tools. Why? Years of managing smart teams => perfect skills for AI prompting. We may be slower & need more rest, but decades of leading knowledge work win! 💪

Cognition vs. computation: until we will resolve predictability and explainability for LLMs, responsible applications will favor computation (machine learning) for reliability. Extensive use of LLMs requires many safeguards, to ensure accountability in sensitive contexts.

“If you’re not paying for the product, you are the product being used.” Subsidies turn us into assets for those who provide them. 🇨🇳 Communist Party of China heavily subsidizes solar panels and EVs—are buyers becoming clients of the CPC? What does the CPC gain?

Influence? Control? Support?
