We are writing to urge you to act immediately for the safe return home of 3 NZ citizens

We are writing to urge you to act immediately for the safe return home of three NZ citizens - Samuel Leason, Rana Hamida and Youssef Sammour - abducted illegally in international waters by Israel.
These three people were crew aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla. They are humanitarian workers, not combatants, and their abduction is kidnapping and violence at sea.

Firstly, we urge Prime Minister Christopher Luxon to condemn this attack and intervene now.

We urge Foreign Minister Winston Peters to demand the release and protection of these three New Zealand citizens.

And we urge MFAT to provide immediate consular support and accountability.

Sanction Israel and recognise the state of Palestine.

Yes, both. (Ps actually, 1956.) The curable ward was better than the others, although some there were given shock treatment and ended up in the Incurable ward - some old people were there because they'd been bombed out in WWII and rescued. Lots of wards.

I know someone who worked there briefly in about 1958. Have heard a few stories.

One of the kindest, most helpful books I've ever read on #suicideawareness:

I'll be showcasing this book in my Farlane on Writing newsletter on 10 Sept #worldsuicidepreventionday 🎗️

I found this when I was looking for photos I took in 2019.

Kristen took this one of me and my aunt Fleur Adcock 💙 when we went to see Lauris Edmond's plaque.

Good memory for today on National Poetry Day in Aotearoa

Thank you - I love the line (from 'Thaw' by Fleur Adcock):

'The wood pigeon complains, complains, complains.'

- and that this line is all on its own. Brilliant 💙

Sorry to have missed this. Curious to know which of Fleur's poems were read -?

My sister and I read at The Undercurrent bookshop last night.

Sarah read a story by our mother and a poem by our aunt, and then I read my story 'Qiu Miaojin Is Still Alive'.

There was also some blues, jazz and juggling - fun evening!
