Writer. Stories in The Deadlands, Orchid's Lantern, and 3AM Magazine.
His solo stuff is underrated. I like if so much I forget he was even in Acid Bath half the time.

I love this. Maybe I should read those Byatt novels sitting on my shelf.

Sorry it was Stefan Tobler translation of Agua Viva. Idra Novey was G.H.. Getting my translators mixed up.

Hour of the Star I liked a lot but remember less than Agua Viva and G.H. — that one I will need to reread (after I've read all Lispector's other work)

...and of course on an abstract modernist level, Agua Viva (Idra Novey translation). All three novels to me felt like trying to quantify the never ending moment of existence as you hurtle towards cosmic nothingness.

Likewise Agua Viva blew me away last year as an abstract narrative trying to philosophise the moment of existence and, of course, failing. I've read three novels that fall into this theme for me: on the pulp end, The Langoliers by Stephen King, on a contemp lit level What I Loved by Siri Hustvedt...

Worth rereading Passion if you're interested in resolution of self. Read that one for the first time this year and its long passages trying both to reject one's identity and existence, but then also clawing to get back resonated with me very strongly.

I admit I am frequently guilty of based off and based off of. Blame my bogan upbringing.

Somehow the second game looks even more impressive.

My advice is don't take the story too seriously and just get lost in the gameplay loop. Wrote an essay when it came out, comparing Death Stranding to drone music. Never ended up publishing that essay but maybe I'll do that soon.

Was toying with the idea of writing a little blog post about albums that make me say that. Might still do it.

One of those albums that makes me say "I think this is one of best albums ever made", ditto for And the Ambulance Died in His Arms.

The gameplay is 10/10 masterpiece, story 1/10 pretty much the worst thing ever written

That's so cool, Annick is one of my favourite people in the metal scene. A real champion of obscure Canadian metal.

You should, it's very good.

Have you listened to Cauchemar? Early 2010s but very good trad doom.

After learning that John K. Samson wrote a lot of lyrics inspired by her work, I have been pretty keen to finally read some. Also looking to pick up All My Puny Sorrows when I can.

To be fair, it's a very good book. I would even like to reread it.
December 18, 2025 at 2:13 AM
A bit, even.
December 17, 2025 at 11:49 PM
I bit overrated on the writing front, I'd say.

If I was rich I'd probably have a very unhealthy headphone collecting addiction

But tonight Lv1 is alive and in the west
highlands with his herd. It is a perfect
winter evening: the moon rising over
the ice fields, the snow in the wind.
And as he stares into the skybox, there
is 1/50th as much health as usual.

An actor so bland I didn't even realise it was her.
