Exactly when and to whom grace is dispensed in situations like these is complicated but given the stakes here, it seems reasonable to ask what should be expected from those of us, like John, who have always understood what this moment is, re: those who come late to the error of their ways.

Forcing people to apologize for things that aren’t actually morally wrong is a huge reason why we’ve fallen so far with shame and decency. Using those tools responsibly is crucial for them being at all effective when they’re actually needed

Obviously, this particular case seems pretty cut and dry. I think some of the unwillingness to move on tho is that a guy like Platner is likely the best route to win and not in spite of having these types of skeleton, but in a real way, because of them.

The average person understood the pandemic as a society-wide disruption and made accommodations for it across their lives as it unfolded. Inflation only became a distinct issue when it remained elevated well past the acute phase of c19. Not sure why you’re so obtuse about this.

Ezra’s point was not that abortion isn’t a big tent issue. The point Ezra made was that Dems used to occupy a wider swath of cultural attitudes than they currently do, which narrows our path to power, particularly in the senate given the makeup of the states.
