Jack and Charlotte’s dad. Allison’s husband. Small business owner. Guilford County’s State Senator.
They tried to erase me from the record this week. Instead, thousands of you showed up.

Welcome to everyone who’s new here. I’m a State Senator from Guilford County, North Carolina, and I’m not going anywhere.

This is what fighting back looks like.

They Were So Afraid, They Erased the Words.

Yesterday, I spoke truth about what happened in North Carolina. About democracy being stolen in broad daylight. About rigged maps and broken promises. About betraying every sacrifice ever made for the right to vote.

Then something extraordinary happened.

It feels like just yesterday I was driving 10 mph under the speed limit home from the hospital. Those sleepless nights, wobbly first steps across our living room floor.

And here we are. Jack walking confidently into second grade, Charlotte clutching her kindergarten lunchbox with pure excitement.

Today, as news of President Biden’s cancer diagnosis reaches across our nation, I find myself not just as a State Senator from North Carolina, but as a parent, a citizen, and someone whose life has been personally touched by his compassion and leadership.

The Trump administration's "unwavering support" for Western NC has mysteriously wavered. Who could have predicted that big promises during photo ops wouldn't translate to actual help? Our communities are still waiting for that legendary "best disaster response ever."

History teaches us valuable lessons if we're willing to listen.

Today I led Senate Democrats in urging our Congressional Delegation to act against the global tariffs. Nearly 100 years ago, Republican lawmakers championed the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act, promising it would protect American workers.

Stunning and shameful: NC Court of Appeals just ruled to potentially throw out 60,000+ ballots, which could flip a Supreme Court race to Jefferson Griffin—who happens to be a judge on the very same Court of Appeals! 🧵

For no particular reason, sharing an economic history lesson for those interested. #TrumpTariffs #Trumptax #tariffs

Liberated from our retirement savings, our kid’s college fund, the money we were setting aside to start a small business… Liberation day indeed. 🤡

Would ya look at that, a little wealth destruction and some folks are reunited with their missing spine.
April 3, 2025 at 12:15 AM
Yep.
It's not a bad idea to go to the local Walmart or big box retailer and buy lots of consumables now. From toothpaste to soap, anything you can find storage space for, buy before they have to replenish inventory.

Even if it's made in the USA , they will jack up the price and blame it on tariffs.

Oh man, this administration, all they do is win, win, win….

Just not sure for who… 🤷‍♂️

We stand at merely 4.58% of this presidential term, yet already witness concerning actions like the FCC investigations targeting Disney and ABC over their diversity policies.

What we're experiencing now may be just the beginning.
FCC says it's investigating Disney and ABC over DEI efforts
The Federal Communications Commission is investigating the Walt Disney Company and its ABC unit over its diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.

In America, the wealthy few can drown out millions of voices with their checkbooks. Our democracy will remain broken until we stop allowing elections to be purchased by the highest bidder.

You can’t make this sh** up!

After Nashville, children's bodies weren't even cold when our Senate gutted background checks for pistols. Today, as they strip away concealed carry permits, schoolchildren watch from the gallery—looking down at the very lawmakers abandoning their safety. My heart breaks for them. #EnoughIsEnough

Democrats treat power like fine china. Republicans wield it like a sledgehammer. If we don’t fight harder and stop hesitating to use power for good, we’ll lose more than elections—we’ll lose democracy itself. My op-ed on why the time for restraint is over:

The Folded Hand: A State Senator’s Warning About Democratic Restraint
As a Democratic state senator in North Carolina, I’ve had a front-row seat to what happens when Republicans aren’t just playing to win…

This is one of the most shameful moments in American leadership we’ve seen in our nation’s history. Every American should be embarrassed by this display from an insecure, thin skinned, narcissist. Unfortunately global peace is at stake.

This is a betrayal of everything our nation has stood for, our UN Ambassador is un-American. No other way to say it.

Comcast owns NBC Universal. They’re clearly caving to the bullying by the White House. Where is the outrage from the censorship bros?
Maddow: I think it is a bad mistake to let Joy Reid walk out the door. It is also unnerving to see that on a network where we've got two nonwhite hosts in primetime, both of our nonwhite hosts in primetime are losing their shows, as is Katie Phang on the weekend. I do not defend it.
