If you can remember this song, remember the singer, and recall the type of record this is.... you are old like me!! "Walking My Baby Back Home" by Johnnie Ray, on a Columbia "Hall of Fame" 78 release. The song is from 1952. I had to upload something other than news of the awful politics right now!

I, too had a beautiful, feisty black cat - her name is Selma - I miss my baby Selma every day.

Connie Francis' final two M-G-M musicals were "Looking For Love" (Jim Hutton, Joby Baker, Susan Oliver, Johnny Carson Danny Thomas -1964) and "When The Boys Meet The Girls" (Harve Presnell, Louis Armstrong, Liberace - 1965). "Looking" was a screwball comedy & the 2nd was a remake of "Girl Crazy".

Mae West reminds us, "You Gotta Taste All The Fruit"! Mae's penultimate film was "Myra Breckinridge", where she was her usual glamorous, outrageous self! Throwing in a bit of sassy humor at you on these turbulent political days.

Another favorite voice of mine has been stilled! Rest in peace dear Connie Francis. Your life had it share of triumphs and tragedies. I had the great pleasure of meeting you once at Footlight Records in NYC in 1996 when your multi disc collection "Souvenirs" was released. Love you Connie. Rest well.

Percy Faith recorded the most beautiful version of “MacArthur Park” because it is totally instrumental, magically arranged by the master, and is totally devoid of the silly lyrics.

The only time the song "I Speak To The Stars" from Doris Day's film "Lucky Me" appeared on an LP was the 10 inch album "Lights, Camera, Action!" from 1954. "Lucky Me" was one of the few musicals at the time for which Columbia did not release a full LP of music. Trivia: Angie Dickinson was an extra!

Baby Boomers might remember Fess Parker who portrayed "Davy Crockett" on TV - with his 'coonskin cap'. Buddy Ebsen, later on "The Beverly Hillbillies" co starred. All the boys seemed to want a coonskin cap like Davy, when the show was broadcast. This is the theme song to the show which was popular.

Lesley Gore did not want to record "Sometimes I Wish I Were A Boy", but her producer Quincy Jones had the final say. The song underlines the social norms that girls always were expected to follow, & the freedom that boys seem to have in similar (dating) situations. Love her; miss her unique voice!

Bobby Vinton's "Blue On Blue" LP is very rare (particularly this Radio Station issue on blue vinyl). One of the LP cuts, "Blue Velvet" took off for Bobby, and actually eclipsed the popularity of "Blue On Blue". Epic reissued the album with the new title "Blue Velvet" and a different cover.

One of two releases by The Shangri-Las, after they left Red Bird for Mercury. At this time, their popularity was waning, with the sounds of harder rock taking the place of the "girl group" sound.
