They not conservative. Conservatives value tradition and are slow to abandon what is proven to be good. These people who call themselves conservatives are something else. Perhaps Reactionary is a better word for what they are. Conservatives would not abandon the rule of law or constitution.

I think you’re right about that. Once a great nation is destroyed it’s hard to restore it. Think of Argentina that once had the same promise to equal the USA.

The total fees for my first semester at San Jose State College(now university) in 1970 was $78.00. I don’t blame the students who can’t get out from under this unfair debt. I am so angry at the politicians and officials who made education unaffordable.

Too many people my age forgot that we weren’t burdened by years of student loan debt because in the 60s and early 70s a good summer job could cover tuition at most schools. The cost of education is a grave injustice. It’s wrong!

My wife’s cousin who is a farmer tells me most agricultural land is in corporate hands already. Driving across South Dakota I noticed very few farm houses and lot of big tractor barns. Corporate employees commute to farm jobs from elsewhere. Who benefits from this?

It’s popular to claim that our ancestors came legally and these newcomers should come the legal way too. Do they not understand that current laws make legal immigration so complicated and expensive that poor folks can’t get in. Many earlier immigrants just had to walk off a ship and not be ill.

The same people who blame immigrants for everything bad benefit from their labor. Employers want immigrant workers, some industries are completely dependent on immigrants, agriculture, hospitality among others. It is so hypocritical!

But Greyhound never made us change buses through hubs that took us hundreds of miles from where we were trying to go. As I remember Greyhound buses in the 1970s it wasn’t super comfortable but not nearly as cramped as my last few plane rides.

Vance is smarter than Trump and I think probably just as cruel. But he doesn’t have Trump’s base and the GOP Congress isn’t afraid of him. MAGA will crumble under Vance.

Trump seems to have an aversion to people who actually went to school to study learn and gain skill and competence. Those of us who worked hard to gain our credentials are not him. He knows that and hates us for it. I am almost as old as DJT, I hope I live long enough to see our country restored.

Most corporations got rid of pension plans for their workers and replaced those with defined contribution plans or with nothing. Most public employees still have pensions.
