I had a not-so-pleasant exchange with Matt Kemp in the Dodgers clubhouse during my first year reporting.

Clayton Kershaw saw it, and he told me to come over and sit.

I always say that it was one of the best exchanges I've had with an athlete.

But make no mistake - his legacy is his bigotry.

Yeah, THAT Matt Kemp.

Well, I had a story that I wanted to work on with Kemp. So I went into the Dodgers' clubhouse at 4:30 for a 7:05 game. I went to Kemp's locker, introduced myself, and asked if Kemp had a few minutes to chat.

I was big leagued for the first time (the second came came from JaVale McGee and third from Rob fucking Refsnyder.

Kemp said "fuck no," laughed and walked away.

2025 me would have handled it differently. But 2012 me? I was shook (ain't no such thing as halfway crooks!).

I started walking away, and then I heard "hey, man. I have a few minutes to chat."

I looked over at the visiting clubhouse couch, and it was Clayton Kershaw.

THE Clayton Kershaw.

The man with the unhittable curveball. One of the best lefties to ever play the game. A Cy Young winner.

This, to me, still SCREAMS San Antonio.

They can facilitate a trade deadline deal with Milwaukee, and somewhat easily.

They're way below the first apron, they have a ton of assets, and they possess player contracts that the Bucks can move off of down the line.

Two months later, on July 12, the couple were in the area of Bristol, Conn., staying at a hotel. Hill had been yelling at Vaccaro all day because "she was not doing what he wanted her to do," the document said. Inside their hotel room, with some of Hill's other children and family waiting in the lobby, Vaccaro told Hill that she didn't want to go out because she was pregnant and didn't feel well. Hill responded by picking up Vaccaro's phone and throwing it at her face. He then "threw a punch and tried to hit her pregnant stomach, but she deflected it," the document said. Hill also "ripped at her hair and pulled some hair out, then grabbed her purse and flung it across the room," the record said.

Vaccaro was very far along in her pregnancy in November of 2024, when the couple along with some family were at their Sunny Isles Beach, Fla., condominium getting ready to leave for a Dolphins game. Hill got angry with Vaccaro while they were in the bedroom, with the rest of their family in the living area, and spat in her face, the document said. She gave birth to their daughter the next day.
